	OVERVIEW Vindico Medical Education’s Office of Medical Affairs and Compliance has identified an educational gap in knowledge relevant to human papillomavirus (HPV). According to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), genital HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States [MMWR Recomm Rep. March 2007]. With the recent introduction of immunizations for HPV, pediatricians are challenged to keep informed on the burden of the disease in both females and males, evaluate currently available immunizations and their potential for cross protection against nonvaccine oncogenic HPV types, and review recent clinical study findings on the potential benefits and adverse effects of the immunizations.

	OVERVIEW Rotavirus is a leading cause of severe diarrhea among young children worldwide, leading to the deaths of over half a million children under 5 years of age annually. Two second generation vaccines against rotavirus have been available since 2008. In light of the genetic diversity of rotavirus and its changing epidemiology, it is crucial to continuously monitor the epidemiology and disease burden of rotavirus in the post-vaccine era. This monograph will review the genetic diversity of rotavirus strains as well as strains that have emerged post-licensure. The epidemiology of these rotavirus strains will also be discussed. Furthermore, the efficacy, effectiveness, and cost effectiveness of the two rotavirus vaccines against various rotavirus strains will be evaluated.
