	OVERVIEW Portions of the proposed healthcare reform plan include provisions for those who do not have access to care, including those in remote areas. The proposed plan may also include provisions to provide technology, such as through telemedicine, that will allow those in medically underserved areas to obtain better care. Tele-education will also allow physicians in remote areas to continue their education by participating in courses and seminars via tele-education technology.

	OVERVIEW The evolution of the medical home has had a profound influence on contemporary models of healthcare delivery. The medical home has become a recognized standard for delivering primary care to children and adults. Healthcare reform is currently a topic of high interest to most people in the United States. Reform could include improved mechanisms of providing support for the medical home, which, among other benefits, can be shown to be cost-effective.

	OVERVIEW Management of patients with growth disorders is becoming increasingly complex, with a range of medications that may affect a patient’s growth and expanding uses of growth hormone treatment. Pediatric endocrine physicians and nurses must also be able to counsel patients who are not candidates for treatment. This monograph will review medications that have an impact on growth, as well as the conditions for which growth hormone therapy is indicated. Importantly, strategies for working with families with normal variant short stature, for which growth hormone therapy is not indicated, will be discussed.
