OVERVIEW
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most prevalent cause of hospitalization of infants for acute lower respiratory illness, and causes more lower respiratory tract infections among young children than any other pathogen. This monograph will review the prevalence of RSV in the premature infant population and discuss effective methods of diagnosis and prophylactic measures to reduce the incidence, morbidity and mortality of this devastating illness.
