OVERVIEW
Immunization of adolescents is equally as important as infants. However, adolescent immunization rates are suboptimal, due to a variety of factors. This monograph will review the recommended adolescent immunization schedule as well as the vaccines listed on the schedule. Concerns about vaccine safety, a significant obstacle to adolescent immunization, and resources to access valid safety data will be presented. Other barriers to adolescent immunization will be discussed along with strategies to overcome these barriers.
