OVERVIEW
The International Congress of Gastroenterology presented its diagnostic criteria for irritable bowel syndrome in Rome in 1988. These "Rome criteria" have since been revised, most recently in 2006. Since that time, much has changed regarding the diagnosis of pediatric abdominal pain.
